Hope is a Thing With Wings, Dancing
Made in Paradise, series 1
salt, steel, synthetic hair
This work addresses the intersection between speculative fiction and false stories of evolution, allowing sexual selection to be the driver along with dreams and mythology. This work is both accessible and empowering, pushing the boundaries of fantasy, surrealism, and science fiction and the creation of new gods that dance in delight around the queerness of nature. Through the use of intricate detail and organic forms, the artist invites the viewer to contemplate the role of myth and storytelling in shaping our understanding of the world around us. As the gods cavort and twist in an endless dance, they challenge us to question our assumptions and embrace the diversity of life.
This sculpture is part of a series called Made In Paradise.
