Combustion Study No. 1: A Theory of Heat and Doubt

Exploring the incendiary mixture of curiosity, emotion and controlled chaos, this performance invited participants to approach the sculptural installation as it burned from one end of the gallery to the other. The elemental phenomenon of fire and smoke challenges the viewer's compulsion to find meaning in all things by simultaneously creating a perceptually hostile environment for witnessing the completion of the performance while antagonizing their curiosity.
